Evaluation Question 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Evaluation Question 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When creating my product I used a variety of different products in order to create the final product. These range from high quality cameras right through to the blogging process itself.
The first bit of technology I used when creating my product was an Apple iMac. I learned quite a lot about these products, having no previous experience with them before starting the course. I learned that the Mac is a significantly better product to do this kind of media work on than a networked computer and I learned that this would be my computer of choice when creating a product like this again. The mac ran faster than most other computers I have used which made the process quicker and less time consuming, It also has a very high resolution screen which made the editing process easier as I could clearly see all the products I was working with and ensured that I could edit with precise detail at a very high resolution so I know that I haven't missed any details when editing.

I also used photoshop, which proved to be a very powerful but effective tool. I used this for all of my editing and created the entire magazine with this one piece of software. I learned a lot about how it works, having very minimal knowledge of it before, and I have learned that it does countless different types of things from editing a models face, to removing the background, even removes blemishes and imperfections. This software ensured that my magazine looked professional and was created at the highest possible standard in order to appeal to my target audience and ensure that my magazine followed all the traditional magazine conventions.

As well as using these two pieces of technology for the main bulk of my product, I also chose to use the following for my coursework:

Scribd - I used scribd in order to upload PDF's and embed them on my blog. This proved extremely useful as not everything is able to be uploaded to blogger straight away and needs to go through some form of conversion or software in order to be uploadable.

Blogger - I used blogger in order to upload all of my content to be viewed. This was easy to use and mostly trouble free. It is effective at displaying all of my coursework in an easy to follow layout that is quite customisable as well (although I didn't explore these features too much)

Spotify - I also used Spotify in order to create my playlist. Spotify is effective because it has almost every artist you can imagine on their service and the music plays at high quality so the listener can get the best experience. I found Spotify to be the best music service to use to create my playlist as I already have an account and know how to find all the artists and narrow down the genre choices.

As well as using all of the above for my coursework I also had to take pictures, and I did this using the schools camera. The camera takes images at an almost professional standard so I knew I was getting the best results by choosing to use it.

Evaluation Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

This is Alex, he’s 19 and he’s a big indie rock fan and he and his band often perform at local gigs. Alex is all about music, money is not a big issue for him and he often chooses not to buy the most expensive products around. Alex still has an old iPhone 3GS and he chooses not to upgrade this because why waste the money? He buys a lot of his clothes from old charity shops and he definitely knows how to spot a bargain when he sees one. Alex often hunts around charity shops for old vinyls and collectable items. His favourite band is Bloc Party and he’s liked them since his childhood, he’s always had a passion for playing guitar and more recently he has begun the process of learning how to play drums. Currently Alex can play guitar, piano, and bass and spends a lot of his free time practising. Alex spends a lot of time watching classic TV sitcoms like Fawlty Towers and Blackadder and he loves going to small music festivals with lots of local talent.
Alex is the ideal kind of person to read my magazine, and I think that audiences like Alex really need a magazine of their own to show off small unheard of artists and give indie rock fans a truly independent magazine.
